That’s why the pillar seems to be from a distance grey in the middle, and blue on the bottom and on the top, It has the same effect when you are just in front of the column, and you look at the middle, the top or the bottom.

Situated at the threshold of the Tokyo Midtown development this sculpture tower is constructed in hollow aluminium blocks, anodized in a light blue colour.
The internal structure is complex to comply with rigid safety standards and to withstand earthquakes. It is made of stainless steel and polished to a mirror finish to ‘dissolve’ inside the piece.
The internal structure is seen as complimentary to the overall form. The shifting multi faceted filigree of blocks and colour add to its vertical movement.
