Hnutí Sokol (od slovanského slova pro sokola) je mládež Sportovní hnutí a gymnastika organizace jako první založena v Praze v českých zemích Rakousko-Uherska v roce 1862 podle Miroslava Tyrše a Jindřicha Fügnera. Primárně fitness trénink centrum, Sokol, formou přednášek, diskusí a skupinové výlety poskytnutých co Tyrš zobrazil jako fyzické, morální a intelektuální školení pro národ. Toto školení rozšířena na muže všech tříd, a nakonec k ženám.
Hnutí se rozšířilo do všech regionech obydlených podle slovanské kultury (Polsko (Sokol)), slovinských zemích, Srbsku (SK Soko), v Bulharsku, ruská Říše (Polsko, Ukrajina, Bělorusko), a zbytek Rakouska-Uherska (například Slovinsko a Chorvatsko). V mnoha z těchto zemí, organizace také sloužil jako rané předchůdce hnutí Scouting.
Ačkoli oficiálně instituce"nad politikou, " hrál Sokol důležitou roli ve vývoji českého nacionalismu, vytvoření fóra pro šíření masové bázi nacionalistických ideologií. Články publikované v časopise Sokol, přednášek v sokolských knihovnách a divadelní představení na masivní gymnastických festivalů slets pomohl řemesla a šíření české národní mytologie a verzi historie.

The Sokol movement (from the Slavic word for falcon) is a youth sport movement and gymnastics organization first founded in Prague in the Czech region of Austria-Hungary in 1862 by Miroslav Tyrš and Jindrich Fügner. Primarily a fitness training center, the Sokol, through lectures, discussions, and group outings provided what Tyrš viewed as physical, moral, and intellectual training for the nation. This training extended to men of all classes, and eventually to women.
