The sculpture is the work of Anna Chromy, an Austrian artist of Czech origin and it was installed in the New Town area in 2002. Four bronze statues, each over two metres high, dance around the fountain. The dancing statues represent the major rivers of the world and I really like the fluidity the artist has captured. The statue with a mandolin represents the Indian river Ganges, the statue with a flute, the Amazon river, the statue with a violin, the Danube and the one with a trumpet, the Mississippi river.
I love the way the musicians are blindfolded - they can't see their audience but can be completely confident they are there. Their music and dancing is just so captivating.
As you cross the Square, you can almost hear the music and imagine the statues moving. For me the dancers are just calling out to their audience to stop, watch and listen - you really can't walk by this work without staring and admiring it. It's a brilliant piece of communication.

Prague, Czech republic: Near the railway station, in the tiny Senovazne square, I loved the statues of blindfolded musicians, lost in the joy of their music. These statues are by Anna Chromy. I feel as if music is spilling over even from their images.
