Good start
I find walking through a desert tiring. It is not only the heat during the day and the cold at night. Besides, survival is an art. You notice how dependent we are on clean water. I am not a worrier, but sleeping in the open air is no fun. I am occupied on the most essential and especially the physical. Another thing is that a desert is mentally deadly dull. These few thoughts about survival seem to pound my brain like a sledgehammer. Where are all those subtle thoughts and those memories of beautiful artworks? Seeing objects in the distance! Objects that are not helpful in drinking, eating, resting. As I get closer I worry myself silly. Nothing or nobody helps me. Or does it? Do you ever? I see people. This takes some getting used to. Am a capable to say anything? How will these people react to me? Is this safe? Artists are allowed to do anything. Afterwards it turns out that Ivan Argote has placed four staircases in the Salton Sea. I see people climbing on a staircase. The staircases are standing in a circle in different directions.
I think Ivan Argote is making a good start with these steps. From a safe distance we can watch each other. Who knows, we might meet each other to help each other with the most essential physical and mental needs.
