Ubaldino Peruzzi (1822-1891) fu, assieme a Bettino Ricasoli, il più autorevole tra i moderati toscani che, specialmente negli anni immediatamente successivi all’Unità d’Italia, ebbero un ruolo preminente nella vita politica nazionale. Nel 1892 si costituì un Comitato avente lo scopo di raccogliere la somma necessaria per erigere un monumento in suo onore e fu proposta la collaborazione con il Comitato per l’erezione del monumento a Bettino Ricasoli affinché 'i due monumenti siano fatti contemporaneamente'. L’opera, affidata allo scultore Raffaello Romanelli, venne inaugurata il 27 aprile 1898.

Ubaldino Peruzzi (1822-1891) was, along with Bettino Ricasoli, the most authoritative among moderates, especially from Tuscany in the years immediately following the unification of Italy, had a prominent role in national political life. In 1892 he formed a Committee with the purpose of collecting the sum necessary to erect a monument in his honor and proposed collaboration with the Committee for the erection of the monument to Bettino Ricasoli that"the two monuments are made at the same time". The work entrusted to the sculptor Raffaello Romanelli, was inaugurated on April 27, 1898. Il a travaillé sur de nombreux matériaux et créé sous diverses formes: aquarelle, peinture, gravure, sculpture, tapisserie, timbres-poste, décors de théâtre.
