Open letter from Abraham to the Florentines Clet:
The French artist, author of"correct" signs that have invaded the Centre of Florence and of"the common man" appeared (and then disappeared!) to the bridge to thank you, spreads a poetic manifesto dedicated to Florence before the public meeting on Thursday, organized by OVO art and contemporary culture. We strive to be much different, and it's a grueling struggle that we do to emerge from the crowd. Is an inherent selfishness at all, as if the purpose of the trip was to achieve the goal; better if we only reach it, because it means that we are the best. In doing so we have lost the sense of things, learning to ignore all the riches that fill our routes. Emerge isn't a virtuosity nor a heroic act. On the contrary, accept and experience is extraordinary. The common man is a tribute to the courage of those who decide to take the risk without the presumption or the obsession of being better, but simply exploiting inside the importance of completing a step toward uncertainty. Because the uncertainty can be anything, there are no laws capable of regolarizzarla, is pure chance; the key ingredient to every desire. Those looking for certainties could just sink, as granite in the water. There has been much talk of my work lately, debating whether to define art or vandalism that I do. Are threads in which I participate, that's not the role of an artist. I will not defend my actions, nor convince anyone that what I do I do because I consider it art. But one thing, only one, I would like to be able to say about: the road sign is life, pure life.
