Aesthetically pleasing without a function
This artwork is changing it’s location all the time.
It makes use of all the space there is.
The Drijvend Plastiek (Floating Plastic) has a simple form, is this a tree?
Boats can float between the three objects.
This work of art by Evert Strobos participates in navigating. Art that participates is special anyhow.
These floating plastics are not functional (water and boats are).
Or can water, boats, trees seen as beautiful, aesthetically pleasing without a function?

Vertaling:
Esthetisch bekoorlijk zonder functie

Five octagonal black floaters with Reed-shaped masts floating in the Zuideramstelkanaal, the floats are in the bottom of the channel anchored.

In 1973, in the June issue of the South-Wester stood a call to residents to think about a work of art in the ZuiderAmstelkanaal. It would be a floating plastic, that a lively and attractive point near was supposed to be. After four years, the project came into being.
When making is thought to be the influence of power, of violence on material. The influence of wind, water and air will be clear. Artist Evert Saleh has two years to complete the work.

www.amsterdam.nl:
the object consists of five octagonal black floaters with Reed-shaped masts, and floats in the Zuideramstelkanaal. The floaters are anchored in the bottom of the channel.
Because the objects are used as"hangout" by passing seagulls they are often under the feces, this is unfortunately unavoidable.
