Op 12 juni 2006 werd de Hans Snoek fontein op het Leidseplein feestelijk in gebruik. Voor het opknappen van de bestaande fontein voor Hotel American op het Leidseplein heeft de in 2001 overleden oprichtster van het Scapinoballet, mevrouw Hans Snoek, een legaat nagelaten aan de gemeente Amsterdam. Dit legaat betekende feitelijk de start van dit bijzondere project dat is uitgegroeid tot een volledige vernieuwing van de fontein inclusief bestrating eromheen.

For fixing up the existing fountain in front of Hotel American on the Leidseplein, the deceased founder of the Scapino ballet in 2001, Mrs Hans Snoek, a legacy bequeathed to the city of Amsterdam. This bequest in fact meant the start of this special project that has become a complete renewal of the fountain including paving around it.
