Discs of glass could magnify the area and the sky
This sympathetic artwork Lensbomen (Glasses Trees) by Thomas Puckey is a tree containing discs of glass. The artwork would have extra dynamics when transparent glasses where used so the area and sky was magnified or deformed.

Compared with other works
The artwork Untitled by Tomas Saraceno (London, picture 1, more information) is located in a park. The nature (trees, clouds) is reflected by the shiny surface. Due to the rectangular shapes of the artwork, it seems, that portions of the surroundings are cut away, are manipulated.

Sky Mirror (New York, picture 2, more information) is giving the nature back to the people. Anish Kapoor says something like:"Look around you, see the beauty of the sky. Take another point of view, see the surroundings from a different side, upside down.". The artwork distorts only a little, namely because of the fisheye.

Clouds and some surrounding offices reflect on Big Blue by Ron Arad (London, picture 3, more information). This seems to be smoothly carried and collected in the bowl. If the artwork would stand in a gorgeous area, the reflection would be beautyful and the merging by the bowl make it even richer.

The artwork Never Again Auschwitz by Jan Wolkers (Amsterdam, picture 4, more information) the sunlight is reflected by broken glass. The glass plates are reminiscent of gravestones. The artwork reflects on one of the most difficult issues in European history. Jan Wolkers says: 'After Auschwitz, the view on the sky is violated'.

Thom Puckey makes image as a tango dancing. Three bronze trees on a quiet square, two upright next to each other, the third stretches its branches to its partners. An image like a tango.
Once here, located at the end of the Ramparts Binnengasthuisterrein. Part of it was demolished and a colorful alotment is built on the open space as a contemporary answer to the New Objectivity. Between the new building and the remains of the hospital is a car-free square recessed. For a week the square is marked by a bronze sculpture of three trees that among the bare branches six large lenses. The lenses work as reverse magnifying glasses, who sees through it see the old hospital buildings and new homes back upside down. Puckey designed the statues commissioned by the municipality. According Puckey search many artists in such contracts in a combination of art and architecture, but he refused. Puckey:"You must not forget that with such a mission a picture for someone's house, door, window drop. This creates new requirements. I can not imagine that you put a hard intellectual work in such a court. For me, it was the people who live there long walk, work. With that I started working in my head."He did not enter into dialogue with the architecture, but with his image engage with the people who live there.
He also never met the architect ("I hope he finds beautiful image ')."I almost dare to say that it is an old-fashioned work, it may at first sight be viewed without having to search for meaning in a textbook of art history or philosophy." He was inspired by an early painting by Picasso three people in a room performing a dance, though his trees also grab each other in a dance step."For me it almost human-like things. My main topic is man and mankind. My trees transform a human being into something else, in a different form, which is in all my work, even in the past."
Puckey settled in 1978 in the Netherlands. In the oeuvre he has since built up a constant human figure and the possibility of transformation.

Three bare, bronzed trees, two upright and a slant with the branches to the other two targeted. Between the branches are in each tree two round lenses with a diameter of 80 centimeters of synthetic material, encased in stainless steel. These work like reverse magnifying glasses, which reduced the area and appears upside down.
