'Maria Boog' noemt beeldhouwster Dicky Brand (1955) 'm ook, of 'Staatsliedenpoort'. In de buurt staat-i vooral bekend als de 'Blauwe Poort'. Eind jaren tachtig werd de driehoekige kruising Van Beuningenstraat/Van Boetzelaerstraat voor verkeer afgesloten en ingericht als verblijfsplek. Brand kreeg de opdracht de locatie een markant accent te geven.
Met name de plaatsing van het beeld - in technisch opzicht - is op creatieve wijze tot stand gekomen. Op de geplande locatie bleek een groot riool aanwezig; in eerste instantie weigerde de Dienst Water en Riolering daarom een vergunning af te geven. Want de riolering moet altijd goed bereikbaar blijven.Na bemiddeling van de gemeentelijk technisch adviseur kunstobjecten, werd besloten de poort twee losstaande funderingen te geven, zodat het beeld de rioolpijp overkluisd.
In 2004 is de openbare ruimte heringericht; de ruimte rond het beeld is daarmee wel krap geworden.
