The two stainless steel pipe forms a sideways, parallel to each other on the ground of which the ends support slewing loop. The loop is a view of the aorta, the body artery that runs through the body from the heart.
Memorial Prof. Dr. Dirk Durrer by Lucien den Arend, 1986. Prof. Dirk Durrer put Amsterdam on the world map with regard to research, to the electrophysiology of the heart. What in the 1960s in the Wilhelmina gasthuis began, led in the AMC among other things to successful treatments of arrhythmias.

Sculptures-Park Drechtoevers:
The sculptures of Lucien den Arend are carried out on the basis of mathematical principles and get thereby both a strict appearance as a clear form. In the 1970s created a set of orthogonal constructions: rectangular faces that are perpendicular to each other were placed formed the framework to which their shape derived works. Later followed an escape from the rigid rules which it itself then suggested. The image elements line and plane and the continuous connection between them forms the Foundation for his work, in which balance, continuity, logic and method are important aspects.
