strange weapons
I've not seen such crazy weathervanes before. One of them has a point like a harpoon. The other one is an arrow with a toilet plunger. Yet another has a long point followed by a cube. These funny objects turns out to be weapons.
These weapons are pointing in 180 degrees. In steps they point in different directions. These weapons cover everything at gunpoint. With weathervanes pointing in every direction, the whole world is meant.
This funny-dressed man is carrying the whole world. He is standing on top of a mountain and is therefore invincible. This man controls the whole world with his weapons.
Mirko Siakkou gives his work a lot of funny colours. However, this is a distraction. Mirko Siakkou is critizing machismo and the desire to be invincible. What’s in it for us when everyone behaves like this and has the desire to fight each other with weapons?

Ik heb nog niet eerder zulke gekke windwijzers gezien. De ene heeft een punt als een harpoen. De ander is een pijl met een toiletontstopper. Bij weer een ander wordt een lange punt gevolgd door een blokje. Wat blijkt: deze grappige objecten zijn wapens.
Deze wapens wijzen in 180 graden. In stapjes wijzen ze in verschillende richtingen. Deze wapens houden blijkbaar alles onder schot. Ik denk dat de hele wereld wordt bedoeld, met het wijzen naar de richtingen door de windwijzers.
Deze grappig geklede man draagt de hele wereld. Hij staat bovenop een berg en is daarmee onoverwinnelijk. Deze man controleert de hele wereld met zijn wapens.
Mirko Siakkou geeft zijn kunstwerk veel grappige kleuren. Maar dit is een afleidingsmanoeuvre. Mirko Siakkou levert kritiek op machogedrag en de wens om onoverwinnelijk te zijn. Wat schieten wij ermee op als iedereen hetzelfde gedrag zou vertonen en elkaar met wapens zou willen bestrijden?
