Welkom kunstwerk

Welcome piece of art
This artwork does not care about aesthetics. Colors and features are accurately taken from the suroundings. But guess what? This happens in a way it was not intended. The colors that should warn, now announce suddenly a merry reunion. This is exactly what the traveller needs after endless waiting in boredom.
It is possible after all: art with a function that uses the environment, which is not focused on itself, with humor.
CODA by Dennis Adams is a welcome piece of art.

This meeting point is one of the most eye catching artworks at Schiphol. It’s created by Dennis Adams who named it CODA. The red and white blocks refer to the color code of many objects you will find on an airport. Within CODA 28 different photographs of red-and-white airport objects are incorporated: towers, electricity stations and signs. You find CODA at Schiphol Plaza just before passport control.

Much was decided before you were born' of 'People are nuts if they think they are im portant'.

Red white checkered inside the meeting point of Dennis Adams (1948) to see his picture panels of red and white objects located on airports are: towers, power houses and signs. The title of each photo Panel refers to a place that once was part of the former Dutch colonies, which Adams refers to the colonial history of Netherlands. The work is like meeting point functional even though it is not made for this purpose. Only ' Knot ' of Tajiri was deliberately placed as meeting point, the other objects that are in use for this purpose were thus appointed by the public after short time. Adams ' photographic works, sculptures and installations often have the goal the spectator pointed out a socio-political context and hidden mechanisms of oppression and power. That way let Adams see that art and architecture are not free of value.

In the Hall of Schiphol station hang from the ceiling huge fans as small, gray-green space ships. There are pillars in the same color, sliding up and down escalators, plates with arrival and departure times of trains and planes through to attention and flashing in between the travellers-with their suitcases and children, rushed to train or plane to climb as quickly as possible.
In this pandemonium State, standing still, a bright red and white checkered building, which is still the most resembles a square version of the rocket from the Tintin album Rocket to the moon. It is as if it were by professor calculus is put down never to leave-so strong it falls from the tone of the area. This is also good: the Colossus is intended as a meeting place for arriving and departing travelers, all turned out to be the last year that the thing so striking is that most people don't recognize as venue and there is a sign saying ' meeting point ' was to be placed.
Although the blocks box primarily is designed as venue, it is also a work of art, part of one of the Netherlands's largest sculpture parks. It was created in 1995 by the American artist Dennis Adams entitled Coda, and probably the most famous image from the collection of the Schiphol Airport, which includes about a hundred works. The work which most attract attention are striking enough all over the past year, with the last extension of the airport. In addition to Coda that among other thirteen monitors by Niek Kemps in the floor of departure hall 2, on which radar images go by the waiting passenger, and a vertical bar between the American artist Jenny Holzer's text departure hall 1 and 2, on which in brightly colored red or yellow light sentences go by as Much was decided before you were born ' or ' People are nuts if they think they are im portant '. Most of the hundred Schiphol works are not visible to the public, because they are in offices, private rooms and vip areas depend. Some 30 are now open to the public, and a spectator who all want to see soon is such a work two and a half hours walking-what only one option seems to be for people with much delay.
